In order to train and improve the protection of intellectual property rights , the Inspectors of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property received training sessions in the Ministry of Economy .
Together with American Chamber Mexico (AMCHAM) and the Association of Sporting Goods Foundation, the IMPI inspectors listened to trademark owners and their representatives, who are part of these associations.
Part of the training dynamic was to show the security and identification features to distinguish their products from the fake ones that are on the market.
Forgery infringes the intellectual property rights of a brand’s holder, therefore it is urgent to prepare those who implement the law and monitor its full compliance.
“To attract new and additional resources to research and development, Mexico needs to generate an appropriate, effective and balanced framework, based on the Rule of Law, in order to guarantee Intellectual Property rights. While there have been progress, Mexico still faces a significant barrier to innovation: trademark counterfeiting and copyright piracy on a commercial scale”.
The training sessions confirmed that actions aimed at safeguarding and protection of intellectual property rights in our country are of public - private nature.
“This message is sent with the same legal certainty to all the entrepreneurs around the world in order to continue investing in our country and generating new business opportunities. The private sector will continue contributing with the authority in order to organize and provide the necessary training all over the country”, said Roberto Castañeda, Executive Secretary of the Sporting Goods Foundation.
